Empresas AquaChile’s Verlasso brand made up a significant chunk of the 105 metric tons on board a recent Boeing 747 flight to the US, the firm said.
This was the first time a Chilean firm has chartered a flight of such size exclusively for salmon deliveries, it added. The whole flight was made up of AquaChile salmon, both Verlasso-branded and otherwise.
The direct flight allowed the firm to reduce its transit time and maintain its commitments in both the US and China, despite the high demand at the Santiago air terminal on Jan. 15, the company said.

“Our company’s own volume, together with our logistical capacity, allows us to make decisions of this type, which are of direct benefit to our customers. We are reaching our customers in the target markets in more and in better conditions,” said Matias Silva, AquaChile’s supply chain manager.
“This operation is unique in Chile and is the first time in history that a flight of these dimensions was chartered exclusively for a salmon company, Silva added.
The cargo company that managed this operation was Acosta and Aguayo, in conjunction with Atlas Air.
