COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police say a man who was shot Saturday morning while trying to rob a Bob Evans near the Ohio State University campus has died.
Police received a call at 7:40 a.m. about a robbery at the Bob Evans located on Olentangy River Road between King Avenue and West 5th Street.
A nearby Columbus police officer arrived at the restaurant when the reported robbery was in progress. The suspect was confronted in the parking lot and the officer shot the suspect.
The suspect was taken to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center where he died.
The officer was not hurt.
OSU Emergency Management notified Ohio State students that the incident is not related to the campus and that there’s no ongoing threat to the community.
