Last month, a hacker managed to steal several Fallout 76 players’ items and gear using a cheat program. Bethesda has patched Fallout 76 after the hack and is compensating players by giving them access to cloned versions of their characters to restore their lost items. Bethesda is also giving 8250 Atoms to affected players.
Players have reported on Reddit that they have received an email from Bethesda, which states that the company will offer access to a cloned character with a modified name that has the same items in their inventory. Taking this a step further, Bethesda customer support is also offering a ‘secure trade’ service to assist players in merging the cloned character’s inventory with the previous one. A customer support agent will work with affected players on a private server to implement secure trade.
Although the hack has raised some questions about the security of Bethesda’s online multiplayer, the company has done a satisfying job in compensating players and fixing the issue.
