Qatargas Operating Co. Ltd has announced that it has supplied a commissioning LNG cargo for India’s newest LNG receiving terminal, Mundra, located on the west coast of India.
The cargo was loaded in Ras Laffan on 17 January 2020 on the Q-Flex LNG vessel, Murwab, which has an overall cargo carrying capacity of 216 000 m3. It arrived at the Mundra terminal on 22 January.
Mundra is the second LNG terminal that Qatargas helped commission in India within the past year. According to the statement, it followed an earlier commissioning cargo delivered by the company to the Ennore LNG receiving terminal, located near Chennai, in February last year.
The Mundra terminal is located in Adani Ports and Special Economic zone in the Kutch district of the western Indian state of Gujarat. According to Qatargas, the terminal has a nominal capacity of 5 million tpy of LNG, and can receive vessels with a capacity between 75 000 m3 and 260 000 m3. The terminal consists of two storage tanks, each of which has an overall capacity of 160 000 m3.
