ANCHORAGE (KTUU) The State Department of Transportation and Public Facilities released a joint statement Friday afternoon with the State Health Department responding to concerns some had raised over cargo flights from China landing in Anchorage.
“All passenger and cargo flights to the U.S. from Wuhan, China, where the novel coronavirus was first detected, continue to be suspended indefinitely,” the statement said.
It went on to describe that cargo flights from China were still arriving in Anchorage, and that crew members of cargo flights from china are excluded from the travel restrictions put in place by the President and CDC in January.
However, all crews arriving from mainland China are asked to follow the guidelines put forward by the CDC. The main guidance being to self-monitor for 14 days upon arriving. Crews based in China also face additional guidelines:
- Travel as a group in private transport when traveling between the airport and hotel.
- Do not use public transportation.
- Stay in your hotel to the maximum extent feasible.
- Minimize going out into the general population, and use social distancing of at least 6 feet when possible.
