PALMER TWP., Pa. – The Palmer Township Board of Supervisors approved the land development plan for a proposed 337,750 square-foot warehouse at 1601 Van Buren Road on Tuesday night.
Proposed by Carson Companies of California, the warehouse would be built on 26 acres, joining the nearby Amazon, UPS and XPO Logistics warehouses in an area of the township known as the Northwest Quadrant, which is zoned specifically for warehouses.
Keith Ottes of Langan Engineering and Environmental Services Inc., representing Carson Companies, said there are no tenants yet identified for the multi-use warehouse, which has not received a final design.
After some discussion with the board, it was agreed that Carson would construct a private three-lane road, gated at its north end, which could be opened in case of emergencies. Carson would maintain the road.
In other matters, the board honored two longtime volunteers, Margaret Kennedy for her 14 years on the zoning hearing board, and Rich Freiler for more than 35 years of supporting various athletic activities and facilities in the township.
