According to the results of February 2020, the cargo turnover of the state stevedoring company “Yuzhny” is 1 million 513,3 thous. tonnes. The company increases the cargo throughput by 68,7% compared to February 2019. The cargo turnover includes iron ore, pig iron, coking coal and grain cargoes.
Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” handled 21 vessels, 11 of which were Capesize vessels. The number of Capesize vessels is 183% more than in February last year. In 2020, there have been 37 vessel calls, including 22 Capesize vessels.
1 million 306,4 thous. tonnes of export cargo (86,3% of total cargo turnover) passed through the state stevedoring company “Yuzhny” in February 2020, it is 63,4% more than in the same period last year.
There is upward trend in import cargo handling. Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” handled 206,7 thous. tonnes of cargo. In February 2019, the company handled 86,3 thous. tonnes.
“In 2019, there was the record result in cargo handling, and today we are progressing well. We considerably improve the cargo handling, carefully plan and coordinate all the operations and activities. We have increased the rate of railcar discharging per day. On February 16, the all-time record – 754 railcars – was set. The stevedoring company handled 20656 railcars within the previous month, it is +35% compared to the same period in 2019. Efficient use of the port facilities leads to sufficient cargo turnover increasing”, said acting director of SE STP “Yuzhny” Oleksandr Oliinyk.
