Paris-headquartered Bolloré Logistics has launched a series of freighter flights from China to Europe in order to meet customer demand.
The freight forwarder said the B747F flights between Shanghai and Luxembourg started in early February and are due to end in early April.
The schedules are weekly, but every other week a second rotation is being operated.
In total, the forwarder will operate 11 flights, but it said it is likely that it will continue the programme in April.
“We will monitor the evolution of the situation,” Bolloré said.
“In addition, we operate intra-Asia charters between China and Southeast Asia (vice versa),” it added.
“Customers are extremely pleased that we proactively offer them solutions with a blend of regular hard block capacities and charters offer.”
The service comes as cargo capacity between Asia and Europe and on intra-Asia services is in short supply.
The coronavirus has resulted in passenger operators axing services and therefore belly capacity has been removed from the market.
Meanwhile, production at Chinese factories is back underway.
As a result, freight rates between Asia and Europe have been showing signs of spiking over the last week or so.
