Chinese AloT giant Xiaomi reported an over 80% work resumption rate of its supply chain as of March 19, Wang Xiang, the President of Xiaomi said in an online media briefing.

“The 5G product launch strategy has not been affected by the coronavirus outbreak,” Wang said. “We will proudly launch our flagship 5G smartphone Redmi K30 Pro on March 24 as scheduled.”
However, the company once experienced a severe suspension of production of its factories and offices in February as the coronavirus cases were soaring all over the country. Migrant workers were having trouble getting back to their jobs even though the travel restrictions have been eased in some areas. Wang said the problems are mostly solved and won’t affect the Redmi K30 Pro supply chain.
“We believe the halt in production has affected results in the first quarter, as smartphones are essential devices, the trend of a phone switch brought by 5G development is unstoppable,” Wang said.
As coronavirus epidemic keeps growing outside China, the company is still very confident in their overseas market considering the virus situation.
“Xiaomi is providing medical supports for our overseas staff. We immediately implemented measures to guarantee their safety,” Wang said. “The difficulties won’t last long. Our overseas business is still rapidly growing.”
Xiaomi has also taken multiple steps to combat the spread of the epidemic in all offline stores in China. As of March 19, more than 1,800 Mi Home and authorized Mi stores in Mainland China had reopened. Strict measures such as in-store disinfection and temperature checks are being taken.
