BJP national vice president and former Chief Minister Raman Singh said the entire state is witnessing deterioration in law-and-order situation.
To buttress his claim, the BJP leader cited that within eight days four gang rapes have been reported at Rajnandgaon, Bhilai, Bilaspur and Baloda Bazaar.
The farmers are also peeved over present paddy procurement mode leading to agitations in different places of Tilda, Kawardha, Lormi, Bemetara, Raigarh and Datrenga (Raipur), he said.
Addressing the media on Monday, Raman Singh said at Kawardha and other places the tehsildar and other revenue officials were taken as hostages with farmers demanding to resolve their problems on the spot.
He said the state government had issued several ‘Tughlaq-like’ orders to reduce procurement of paddy from the target of 85 lakh MT to 50 lakh MT. The coupons are being given for 3-5 days, the procurement limit from 2500 tonnes have been reduced to 1000 tonnes for society, while in single coupon only 80 quintal is being procured and emphasis has been laid on personal presence of farmer, he alleged.
With so many restrictions, farmers are feeling being duped and pushed to crises, the former CM said.
He added the gunny bags are 50-50 ratio of new-old creating problem of loaders. BJP leaders will visit each society and support demand of farmers, he said.
Former CM said Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at national level is giving advice to all others but conditions prevailing in his own state are upsetting. Crime incidents from rape, kidnapping and others have increased manifold, he said.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi is going to UP to visit victims but is mum over incidents in Chhattisgarh, the BJP leader added.
