AdobeStock/amenic181Perhaps not surprisingly, a new survey reveals that almost half of hospitals are still using manual processes and tools such as spreadsheets to manage their supply chains.
According to the survey conducted by Sage Growth Partners on behalf of Syft, a national provider of inventory control and end-to-end supply chain cost management software and services, “thirty-seven percent of respondents said they use Excel or other Microsoft tools to track margins per case for operating room (OR) procedures, and “around one-quarter use other low-tech tools, do not know if they track OR margins, or do not track those margins,” as reported by HIT Infrastructure.
“While 86 percent of respondents believe improving SCM would improve care quality, 27 percent said their hospital does not yet use SCM data analytics to identify ways to improve quality,” the article stated.
