Faculty and staff in the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences are encouraged to register to complete an Intercultural Development Inventory assessment before the Tuesday, March 31, deadline.
The Intercultural Development Inventory is the only theory-based assessment of intercultural competence. The cost of the assessment is $18 per U of A participant; however, the Fulbright College Dean’s Office will pay for the first 100 participants in the college who sign up.
“Building cultural competence is important for our organization,” said Romona West, director of diversity and inclusion for Fulbright College. “We know our organization is better if we can effectively navigate cultural differences and respect one another for who we truly are. Our goal is for each staff member, faculty member and student to bring their best self to work and to the classroom and create an environment of inclusive excellence.”
The assessment is optional; however, by completing it participants will get the opportunity to attend various virtual workshops throughout the year, as well as the intercultural competence seminar and to complete a post assessment at the end of the year to see if and how they have developed.
Registrants will receive an email from Intercultural Development Inventory Assessments the first week of April to complete the survey.
