A cargo vessel named “Dana Phyo” docked in Yadanarpon shipyard in Mandalay caught fire in the evening of February 14, according to Mandalay district fire services department.
Sparks from the welding spread to a diesel fuel tank inside the hull and the vessel caught fire, it said.
The fire was put out using ten fire trucks, five water bowsers, two administrative vehicles, 20 firefighters and 100 auxiliary firefighters and it died down around 4:50 pm. Total loss is about Ks150,000, it said.
The police lodged a complaint against the cargo vessel manager Kyaw Myo Naing under Section 285 of the Penal Code for negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter at No.7 Maha Aung Myay police station.
