Trinidad & Tobago-headquartered Caribbean Airlines has begun offering its customers air miles when using the carrier’s cargo operation.

Customers enrolled in the airline’s Caribbean Miles Loyalty Programme can now earn miles every time they ship with Caribbean Airlines Cargo. Enrolling into Caribbean Miles can be done free of charge.

Caribbean Airlines’ general manager cargo Marklan Moseley observed: “Over the last year we have focused on introducing dynamic and competitive elements to our operations and processes in all areas within Cargo, from our customer response to our berth of interline partnerships.

“The inclusion of Caribbean Airlines Cargo to our Loyalty Programme adds one more progressive development for Caribbean Airlines Cargo and our valued customers.”

Other elements of the carrier’s cargo offering newly introduced over the last year, as referenced by Moseley, included:

  • Introduction of a dedicated Customer Service team and call centre operation
  • Real-time cargo tracking
  • Changes to the Caribbean Airlines freighter network, including the addition of capacity on core trade lanes
  • The introduction of cargo services twice a week between Curacao and Trinidad (each Monday and Friday)
  • The addition of new interline partners
  • Increased cargo capacity to Anchorage, Hawaii, Utah, Oregon, Toronto and Vancouver
  • And, for 2019’s holiday peak, capacity will more than double on routes including six times a week services to Port of Spain, five times a week services to Kingston and twice a week services to Guyana and Barbados

Caribbean Airlines has also upgraded its IT systems to support its cargo operations.

The airline’s chief executive, Garvin Medera, noted that the launch of the loyalty programme represents “a proud result of the interactive dialogue we have been having with our customers over the past months, aimed at enhancing our value offering.

“This and other programmes have been designed to reward growth, trust and consistency, embedding a renewed customer-driven culture into Caribbean Airlines mode of operating.”

Caribbean Airlines operates more than 600 weekly flights to destinations across the Caribbean and in North and South America.

Its fleet consists of Boeing B737-800 and ATR72-600 aircraft.

Jointly owned by the people of Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica, as well as its headquarters in Trinidad and Tobago it also has an operational base in Jamaica.

Caribbean Airlines Cargo operates complementary air and ground networks. It offers freighter services, frequent line flights and interconnecting truck schedules.

In October, Caribbean Airlines began offering cargo services to/from Curacao after signing a deal with GSSA Maduro Air Freight Services. Through the deal, the airline is offering air cargo services in and out of Curacao to the wider Caribbean and further afield.

For cargo shipments through Curacao, the airline is utilising its twice-weekly scheduled services between Curacao and Trinidad that operate each Monday and Friday.

For shipments beyond Trinidad, the airline is using the scheduled flights throughout its network as well as its dedicated all-cargo freighter which operates five times a week via Miami.

In July, Caribbean Airlines Cargo signed a new interline agreement with Air Canada, enabling it to ship into and out of all major cities in Canada.

The interline deal facilitated its shipments from hubs such as Port-of-Spain, Barbados, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, to destinations such as Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal.

Caribbean Airlines Cargo also has interline agreements with freight carriers such as Alaska Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Copa Airlines, Lufthansa, Norwegian Cargo and Saudi Cargo.
