HANOVER TWP., Pa. – A Colorado-based developer plans to build a 176,750-square-foot warehouse in the Hanover Corporate Center in Hanover Township, Northampton County.
Representatives of the Black Creek Group presented a sketch plan Tuesday night to township supervisors showing the warehouse on 14 acres at Steuben and Township Line roads. The property, in a planned industrial-business park zoning district, is under agreement of sale with the estate of Frederick Jaindl.
Attorney Chris McClean, representing Black Creek Group, told the board that the warehouse would have 23 loading docks and likely have a single tenant.
Because the property is in a conservation district, with construction challenges from a quarry and uneven topography, McLean noted that the plan needed a variance since it would not meet the township’s zoning regulation for impervious surface. A variance for open space may also be requested because of the unusual condition of the property.
Supervisors Jeffrey Warren and Susan Lawless said that the addition of green features to the warehouse, such as a solar roof, would help offset the environmental impacts.
Coronavirus
Township Manager John Finnigan Jr. told the board that the township has stepped up the cleaning of surfaces at the community center and municipal building to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. The district magistrate’s office in the township is scheduled for cleaning on Thursday. Additional cleaning supplies and disinfectants are on order, Finnigan said.
In addition, police and emergency management staff met this week to review protocols if someone has been exposed to the virus, he said.
Board Chairman John Diacogiannis thanked township administrative and operational staff for their efforts to keep residents as healthy as possible.
