The Naval Air Systems Command’s (NAVAIR) Procurement Group comprises more than 1,000 business professional civilians and active-duty military members working together to procure through contracting actions over $46 billion annually in fixed wing, rotorcraft, unmanned aircraft, weapons and aviation systems. We currently have immediate opportunities in two uniquely challenging and rewarding career tracks:

Career Track 1: As a Contract Specialist team member in the NAVAIR Procurement Group, your business aligned responsibilities will include procuring naval aviation systems including aircraft, aircraft components, missiles, and associated equipment and services; performing analysis of procurement requests; preparing Requests for Proposals; performing analysis of proposals; performing detailed cost analysis; and conducting negotiations.

In order to qualify for the Contract Specialist position, you must not currently be a federal civilian employee and you must be a United States citizen eligible to obtain a Security Clearance This position requires candidates to possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited university with a minimum GPA of 2.95 and at least 24 semester hours in any of the following business-related subjects: accounting, business, finance, law, contracts, purchasing, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, and organization and management.

Career Track 2: As a Proposal Analysis team member in the NAVAIR Procurement Group, you will develop and employ your engineering and business cost estimating skills in the area of Data Analytics. If analyzing historical trends, performing predictive analysis and utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence software tools sounds interesting, then this is the career track is for you.

In order to qualify for the Proposal Analysis position, you must have completed an undergraduate degree in Operations Research, Engineering, or any field with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics; at least 3 credit hours must be in Calculus. Desired skills in one to two of the following areas: Data analytics (using R Studio, Data Visualization platforms such as Tableau, Programming in Python), cost estimating, rate & learning curves.

Both career tracks are classified as Entry Level Employee (ELE) positions and offer a starting salary of $48,670, increasing annually to a journeyman level position upon completion at the three-year mark, with an accompanying annual salary of $86,335. Some individuals accepted into the Proposal Analysis track, with an engineering background may be eligible to start at $63,267 based on their specific academic achievements.

Additionally, both career tracks provide opportunities for continued formal education and to earn professional certifications.
