Indian Navy has published notification for Indian Navy Entrance Test for officers entries for course commencing in January 2021. Unmarried men as well as women can take part in the INET exam in order to become short service commission officers in executive, technical, and educational branches of the Navy

INET online application form will be available for Jan 2021 batch, from November 29 to December 19, 2019. Call letters for the exam will be made available at joinindiannavy.gov.in by January 2020. The Indian Navy Entrance Test will be held in February 2020. SSB interviews will be held in April 2020

Vacancies for short service commission officers are divided into branches and cadres. In the executive branch are cadres of NAIC, ATC, observer, MR pilot, pilot, logistics, X (IT), general service. Then engineering branch and electrical branch come under the technical branch. And those who join under education branch will become SSC education. The vacancies for NAIC, ATC, observer, MR pilot , pilot, logistics, X (IT), general service / hydro cadre, engineering branch, electrical branch, education are respectively 6, 4, 6, 3, 6, 11, 10, 30, 26, 27, 15.

Candidates with BE / B.Tech in any discipline with first class from AICTE can apply for general service (GS / X) / hydro cadre. For naval armament inspectorate cadre, a BE/ B.Tech in any of the prescribed streams is required, with at least 60%, or PG in electronics or physics; in either case having 60% in 10th and 12th and 60% in English in one of the two classes is required. 

ATC, observer, MR pilot, pilot cadres requires BE/B.Tech in any discipline with 60%, 60% in 10th and 12th, 60% in english in any of the one classes.

To join the logistics cadre, one requires any one of the four prescribed qualifications. BE/BTech with first class from AICTE, MBA with first class, B.Sc or B.Com or B.Sc IT with first class with PGD in finance or logistics or supply chain management or material management, MCA or M.Sc IT with first class. 

SSC X IT cadre requires being a BE/B.Tech from any discipline with first class.

To join any of the technical branches, candidates need to possess BE or B.Tech in any one of the 10-12 prescribed branches specified as per the cadre. 

For SSC education, any one of the 6 eligible degrees will suffice. They include M.Sc in certain specializations, or BE/B.Tech in recommended branches. 

The age limit criteria is different for each cadre. Those born between 02 Jan 1996 and 01 Jul 2001 are eligible for NAIC, logistics, SSC X (IT), general service, engineering branch, electrical branch. Whereas those born between 02 Jan 1996 and 01 Jan 2000 can apply against ATC, education. Candidates born between 02 Jan 1997 and 01 Jan 2002 can go for observer, MR pilot, pilot.

Selection procedure for INET officers involves the INET exam, SSB interview, medical. 

The INET exam will be of 2 hours. It will have 100 multiple choice questions comprising of questions on english, reasoning and numerical ability, general science, mathematical aptitude, general knowledge. Each section shall be of 100 marks. Negative marking will be of one mark per incorrect answer. 

On the basis of the exam, Indian Navy can shortlist upto 8000 candidates for SSB. 

How to apply for Indian Navy INET 2019-2020 for Jan 2021?

The mode of submitting applications is online in the case of INET officer entry. To apply, candidates need to go to joinindiannavy.gov.in and click on apply online. From there on the process shall involve registration on the website, followed by filling form for INET Jan 2021. 

Candidates who apply to any Indian Navy recruitment get all their updates in a single dashboard, common for all the exams and entries. 

Application fee is Rs 215. SC, ST, women candidates are exempt from the fee. 

The Indian Navy INET 2019-2020 notification for Jan 2021 officers entry has been published as DAVP 10701 / 11 / 0028 / 1920.
