Amazon’s small army of workers at its warehouse in Bolton are taking a breather after packing thousands of last-minute orders in time for Christmas.
Some will play board games on their lunch breaks – just one of the panoply of activities and perks available, plastered on a large cardboard calendar hanging from the ceiling as staff enter the 75,000 sq ft building through revolving metal doors.
The calendar starts on November 18 and it lists photography and fancy dress competitions, while free chocolate, cookies and cupcakes are on offer on specific dates. All this is meant to rally the troops as they get through “peak” trading with hundreds of thousands of parcels getting sent out every day. …
