Specialist insurer Markel International has appointed Brook Styles as cargo, specie and terrorism underwriter in its London office.
Styles brings over 23 years’ experience in the marine underwriting space, having began his career at Markel.
He re-joins the company from Pioneer Underwriting, having most recently served as head of marine specialty.
Reporting to divisional managing director of international marine Chris Fenn, Styles will be working with the cargo, specie and terrorism teams on existing portfolios as well as helping drive new products.
“We’re delighted to welcome Brook back to Markel and look forward to the important role he will be playing in the further development of our marine capabilities,” said Fenn.
“He brings with him a strong network of broker relationships, excellent technical underwriting abilities and a wealth of knowledge and expertise in these key classes.”
