VANCOUVER, British Columbia, March 31, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Monument Mining Limited (TSX-V: MMY and FSE: D7Q1) (“Monument” or the “Company”) announces that the Company will comply with the extension of Movement Control Order (“MCO”) and continue to suspend operations at its Selinsing Gold Mine in Pahang State, Malaysia until earlier date of relief of the mining ban or April 14th 2020 . More details of the MCO can be read in our new release from March 17th 2020.
CEO and President Cathy Zhai said: “Monument will continue compliance with the MCO and have had direct dialogue with the Malaysian government authorities on a daily basis for immediate relief and to resume Mining Operations at Selinsing Gold Mine at a minimum staff level. In the meantime, security, essential care, maintenance, and environmental monitoring controls are still in place at the mine site. Logistic and supplies are adequate to support re-start of production. Our business sustaining plan is under execution to ensure the operations will be back on track immediately once the ban of mining activities is lifted.”
On March 25, 2020 the Malaysian Prime Minister gave a speech to the Nation announcing the extension of the MCO to April 14, 2020 to continue the prevention of the spreading of the covid-19 virus for the safety of the Malaysian people. The duration of this order will be reviewed from time to time by the government, with future announcements to be made.
In Western Australia, Drilling program at Murchison are progressing as planned.
