Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) is continuing its cargo flights as its passenger flights remain suspended amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic. “The government’s Inter-Agency Task Force has made it clear that all-cargo flights are allowed to operate within the duration of the community quarantine period,” said PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna. PAL has cargo flights from Manila to several domestic and international destinations, she said. “This has enabled the PAL Group to fly essential cargo such as medicines, medical supplies and equipment from Manila to our domestic outlying stations in the Visayas and Mindanao and from our international outlying stations to Manila,” Villaluna added. Airlines have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic as a large number of countries have closed their borders to travellers.
