Rocket League is all set to release its upcoming March Update. There’s some news regarding to the Blueprint and added dynamic range controls for the audio. We also look into some rather sad news, especially for Mac and Linux players. The update arrives to all platforms on March 10 at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

Let’s start with Blueprints. Once the update goes live, players should be able to trade in their Blueprints in exchange for a Blueprint of higher rarity. This is the same system with the free items. In general, players can trade five Blueprints from the same series and rarity in order to get one having a higher rarity.

Aside from Blueprints, a fix is also being implemented for the inventory management. Filters that have been set when viewing the inventory remain active until the player exits the inventory. In addition, players can now change item tabs while the filters are active. According to Rocket League developer Psyonix, they hope that this should make trading a bit easier.

This being an update, players should expect some changes other aspects, particularly the Default Settings. The goal with this change is help new players ease their way to the game by making it easy to control their car and see the field. Changes include:

  • Camera
    • Default Camera Preset
      • Distance increased from 260 to 270
      • Stiffness increased from 0.3 to 0.5
    • Camera Shake intensity reduced for most actions
    • “Legacy” Camera Preset added for players who prefer the original default settings
  • Controls
    • Controller Deadzone value lowered from 0.3 to 0.2
    • Dodge Deadzone value increased from 0.5 to 0.8
    • Reduced the intensity of controller vibration at the default setting
    • Boost now only vibrates the controller when Boost is activated, and not while it remains active.
      • The “Medium” and “High” Vibration settings use the old Vibration
  • Interface
    • Nameplates are now “Always Visible” by default.
    • Team Colored Boost Meter is now enabled by default.

The March Update is also going to add Dynamic Range Presets which are:

  • Medium (Default)
    • Medium gives the most balanced audio mix for headphone users, and is a similar profile to the game’s current mix.
  • Low (Night)
    • Low is designed for those who want to listen at very low levels. In this setting loud sounds become quieter and quiet sounds become louder. It also removes some sounds that are less important.
    • This setting is not recommended for those who have high-fidelity systems or when playing the game at high volume.
  • High (Theater)
    • The best choice for those who play the game at high volume or those with high-quality sound systems. Loud sounds are more vibrant and explosive while quiet sounds, like ambience and crowd noise, are going to be less overpowering which should result in a more dynamic experience.

Finally we go to what we mentioned earlier as sad news. The March Update is going to be the last for the Mac and Linux versions of the game. While it is still possible to download and install these versions, some of the features are not going to function as well. Not to worry though, as those who played the game on these two platforms can get a refund through Steam until June 10.
