In 2019, Sea Commercial Port “Yuzhny” handled 15 153 000 tonnes of cargo, it is the highest result in the 41-year history of the company. The record result is 29,7% more than planned (+ 3 478 000 tonnes) and 23% more than last year (+ 2 841 000 tonnes).

65,3% of the total cargo is made up of export iron ore, metal, grain cargoes and grain cargo processing products, 16,2% – import coke coal and thermal coal, fertilizers, 18,5% – transit and cabotage. In 2019, SE STP “Yuzhny” handled 243 vessels and 216 310 rail cars.

Increasing export cargo (+14,7%) – approximately 9,9 million tonnes – has resulted in cargo turnover rising compared to 2018. There was a fourfold increase of vessels with iron ore – 8,9 million tonnes. Volume of import coal and fertilizers remains stable, 2,4 million tonnes of import cargo passed through SE STP “Yuzhny” in 2019. Transit increased by 145%, it made up 2,8 million tonnes.

SE STP “Yuzhny” handled 243 vessels (+14,6%), including 108 Capesize vessels (with deadweight tonnage of over 175 000 tonnes).

“In 2019, SE STP “Yuzhny” handled the record volume of cargo. Today, we can say that the port facilities are used as much as possible. Nonetheless, our goal is to increase cargo turnover next year. It requires more investments and new solutions, but it generates more profits and facilitates further development. I am really grateful to the port team for the efficient work and I am sure that qualified specialists of SE STP “Yuzhny” will make 2020 much more successful,” said acting director of SE STP “Yuzhny” Oleksandr Oliinyk.

“Sea Trade Port “Yuzhny” is located on the north-west coast of the Black Sea in the nonfreezing Adzhalyksky estuary and it is the deepest port in Ukraine. The company provides a wide range of loading & discharging services, storage and related works; it handles bulk, general and break-bulk cargoes. Scheduled cargo delivery and cargo handling are effectively performed due to the convenient location of the railroad station “Beregova”, developed infrastructure of the road and rail ways. The company operates five deep-water berths, two of which are dedicated to handling of Capesize vessel up to permissible DWT. Annual cargo turnover of the company is 15,15 million tonnes.
