Topgolf is expected to expand to Maywood in Bergen County, according to a report by NorthJersey.com.
The golf facility ideally would open later this year and take over the shuttered Sears warehouse and distribution center on Route 17 North, according to the report, which also said the town council approved a liquor license transfer.
A Topgolf spokeswoman would neither confirm nor deny the news but did tell NJ Advance Media the company is “currently exploring additional expansion in New Jersey.”
Maywood mayor Richard Bolan told NorthJersey.com other retail and entertainment venues could also be on the property.
There are currently two Topgolf locations in New Jersey — one in Edison and one in Mount Laurel — along with a smaller indoor-only swing suite at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City.
Topgolf is a multi-level driving range facility that offers specialized golf events and games, along with a bar and lounge.
There about 60 locations throughout the United States.
