November 25, 2019: Virgin Atlantic Cargo announced its ‘Summer 2020 Flying Programme’ with a second daily Boeing 787 service to Delhi Indira Gandhi Airport from London Heathrow, commencing on March 29, 2020.
With the additional daily flight to Delhi and the new daily Mumbai service launched in October 2019, the cargo carrier has increased the freighter capacity for India. In 2020, the London-headquartered carrier will be completing twenty years since it started flying to Delhi.
India shipped $323.1 billion worth of products around the globe in 2018, up 9.2% year-on-year, with the US and UK markets accounting for $51.6bn and $9.8bn of its exports respectively. Virgin Atlantic’s Boeing 787-9 services offer up to 26 tonnes of cargo capacity on every flight which from India includes high volumes of perishables, pharmaceuticals and courier shipments.
